Coronavirus deaths: 282 more COVID-19 fatalities take UK’s total to 36,675

Another 282 people have died with COVID-19 in the UK, taking the total to 36,675.

The latest figure from the Department of Health is for coronavirus-related deaths in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the community, reported in a 24-hour period up to 5pm on Friday.

Separately, each home nation has reported its own death figures, which may differ from the overall UK picture as reporting times vary.

In England, there have been 157 more fatalities, taking the total in the country to 32,666.

Among the latest deaths announced by NHS England was a 12-year-old with underlying health conditions.

The 157 victims included patients aged between 12 and 100.

Of these, seven – aged between 57 and 88 – had no known underlying health conditions.

There have also been 16 further deaths in Scotland, with the total number now 2,261.

Another six people have died in Wales, where 1,260 have lost their lives after testing positive for COVID-19.

And there has been a further death in Northern Ireland, taking the total number of coronavirus-related fatalities to 505.
