Netflix has shared new footage of the actress in the role of the monarch, succeeding Claire Foy for the third series of the show.

Previously, only still images had been released of Colman in costume. Now, the streaming service has shared a 21-second video filmed through an open door, featuring the star dressed in a white dress, blue sash and crown.

By the look of it, it seems the star, who won the Oscar for best actress earlier this year for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite, is going to be a stern ruler.

The new series, which launches on 17 November, will cover the Queen’s reign from 1964 to 1977.

Tobias Menzies takes over the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith, Helena Bonham Carter follows on from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret and Ben Daniels will play Tony Armstrong-Jones, following on from Matthew Goode.

Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles, Erin Doherty will appear as Princess Anne, Marion Bailey as the Queen Mother and Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

Killing Eve series two writer Emerald Fennell will play Camilla Shand, now the Duchess of Cornwall.

Earlier this year it was confirmed Emma Corrin will play Lady Diana Spencer in the fourth series of the drama, which will film later in 2019.
