Caroline Flack: New documentary trailer shows footage of star in tears

Footage of Caroline Flack breaking down in tears has been shared in a trailer for a new documentary about her life and death.
The Love Island presenter’s mother Christine and twin sister Jody both feature in the programme, along with friends including Olly Murs and Dermot O’Leary.
Flack, 40, took her own life on 15 February 2020.
In the trailer for the Channel 4 documentary, entitled Caroline Flack: Her Life And Death, the star can be seen crying in one clip, saying: “The only person I ever hurt is myself.”
Murs, who co-hosted both The X Factor and The Xtra Factor with the star, is also shown in tears during an interview.
“I just wish I could have told her not to do it, I never got the opportunity to do that,” he says.
Channel 4 said Caroline Flack: Her Life And Death will “delve beyond the headlines to reveal the complex woman behind the public persona, as well as exploring the pressures that fame, mental health, press and social media had on Caroline throughout her life”.
The film, which features previously unseen footage and childhood home videos, was originally supposed to be a documentary about Flack while she was alive.
Lee McMurray, one of the commissioners for Channel 4 Factual Entertainment, said: “After working closely with Caroline throughout 2019, we agreed to make a film with her that would tell her story and reveal what it’s like to live in the glare of such intense scrutiny.
“Sadly, that film will never be made. We hope this project will be a testament to Caroline’s character, work and legacy, and we’re deeply grateful to her family and friends for their involvement.”
The trailer for the documentary comes as friends shared tributes to Flack on Monday, marking the first anniversary of her death.
Both the official Love Island and Channel 4 social media accounts posted messages, along with stars including Love Island narrator Iain Stirling and singer Pixie Lott, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing with Flack, the series winner, in 2014.
Following a two-day inquest in August, a coroner concluded that the star had killed herself ahead of an upcoming trial for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, and could not face the press coverage.
The documentary will air soon on Channel 4.
