John Pye shows
I started off in radio 30 years ago at Preston Hospital….I was only 16 and spent many hours chatting to patients on the wards and collecting requests for my weekly show. I presented alongside a young Mike Zeller (now BBC Radio Cumbria) who was presenting an overnight show at our local station Red Rose Radio. He introduced me to other presenters at the station and I spent a few evenings answering the phones and helping out where I could. This opportunity led me to a long broadcasting career which took me from Red Rose in Preston to Radio Wave in Blackpool and Lakeland Radio. I owe hospital radio a great deal and think it’s a perfect place for anyone who is passionate about media and broadcasting whatever your age.
It’s a real pleasure to present a show on Bay Trust Radio and I have great respect for the station.
Radio has given me many things and introduced me to some awesome people including my wife Suzie….we met at Lakeland and married in 2015…we have 3 girls and sleepless nights.
Away from radio I enjoy the outdoors be it running, walking or swimming. I am from a farming family so going forward I would love to combine my passions of the outdoors with my passion for broadcasting…. Excited for Bay Trust Radio and it’s new DAB platform and totally recommend anyone with a passion for the industry to please give hospital radio the chance to be a fabulous stepping stone for you.
