Written by on 01/04/2019

Bay Trust Radio has been shortlisted for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which recognises outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers.

The charity, which has been broadcasting a local radio service since 1977, is based in Kendal and run completely by volunteers from across the region.

The news comes as the station prepares for celebrating it’s 42nd year of broadcasting with a special fundraiser broadcast over Easter Weekend with live music and special guests.

The station has also just opened a new studio in Blackpool, allowing more volunteers to get involved with the charity.

John Williamson, Station President, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be recognised and shortlisted for this prestigious award. I would like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to provide our 24 hour service.”

“Our charity has been operating for 42 years and without the support and generosity of local people, businesses and the support of our NHS Trusts, none of this would be possible.”

The winners of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service across the UK are announced on 2nd June.
