New UHMBT Chief Executive Appointed

Aaron Cummins has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Aaron’s appointment follows the decision by current Chief Executive, Dame Jackie Daniel, to step down from her role at the end of March 2018.
Aaron has been the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance since January 2014.
Dame Jackie Daniel, current Chief Executive, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Aaron to the role of Chief Executive.”
Colin Ranshaw, Head Governor, said: “I know Aaron cares deeply about standards of care for patients and ensuring that staff are treated fairly. If he isn’t in his office, you can usually find him on a hospital ward talking to staff and patients, and I am confident he will keep this visible approach alive as our next Chief Executive.
“Dame Jackie’s incredible leadership during her time in post has been a beacon to us all. Aaron’s qualities and experience will enable him to build on that success and take the Trust and the local health and social care system to the next level.
“The Council of Governors is looking forward to welcoming Aaron in his role as Chief Executive, and we can be confident that with his appointment, we will continue to support and work together positively and constructively with our patients and the public for the benefit of our communities.”
Aaron said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive at such an exciting time for our Trust and the local health and social care system. It’s been a real privilege to work alongside Dame Jackie over the last four years, and I’m incredibly proud to be able to lead the Trust as we continue that journey of improvement.
“I know I inherit a truly outstanding leadership team as well as strong relationships with our partners and some of the most dedicated and talented staff in the NHS. I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside them to deliver the best possible services for people across Morecambe Bay.”
Aaron will take up the post of Chief Executive on 1 April 2018.
