Kendal Town Council announces bumper investment into local parks and community centres

Written by on 09/01/2019

Liberal Democrats on Kendal Town Council voted through plans to increase investment into parks and community centres across the town.

The investment includes £2,000 on improvements to Fletcher Park, £5,000 towards the Trim Trail at the Beck Community Centre, £7,000 on new play equipment at Hallgarth Play Area, and £5,000 towards a brand-new entrance at Nobles Rest from Library Road.

The money to pay for the work will be raised by a small 24p per month increase on council tax. This will also allow projects to go ahead that was cancelled due to the cost of conducting a parish poll on the future of New Road Common earlier this year.

Councillor Jon Owen, Chair of the Environment and Highways Committee on Kendal Town Council said: “Our local parks and community centres are a key part of the life and soul of Kendal.

“So, I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to announce improvements to them through this new investment.

“Now that the money has been signed off by the Town Council, I’m looking forward to seeing the work getting started and the public soon being able to enjoy our parks even more.”
