Funding Boost for Bay Trust Radio Studio Upgrades

Written by on 15/07/2019

We have successfully upgraded and improved our radio studios after receiving over £5,000 in funding and we want to hear from people who are interested in joining our team.

Bay Trust Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day for people living across South Cumbria and North Lancashire; as well as patients, staff and visitors of local hospitals.

The studio upgrades project was made possible by a grant from Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The news comes just a few weeks after Bay Trust Radio received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to voluntary organisations in the United Kingdom.

The grant has allowed us to purchase new equipment to improve programmes; ranging from microphones, headphones and purpose-built computers for production.

John Williamson, Station Manager, said:

“Keeping a radio station up to date and fully-functional is a continuous task. This grant has allowed us to replace some of our oldest equipment with state-of-the-art systems which are built for broadcasting.”

“We are absolutely delighted to have received the grant and we thank Postcode Community Trust and players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their support.”

The station is run entirely by volunteers and started broadcasting in 1977 with studios located in Kendal and Blackpool.

We are currently looking for volunteers from across the area for roles ranging from presenting, production and ward visiting. You can find out more by visiting baytrustradio.org.uk/join-us or call 03302230056.
