Another step forward for Gooseholme footbridge

Written by on 17/03/2022

Cumbria County Council has confirmed that there will be more work taking place on Gooseholme footbridge in the following week.

The mobile phone company, Vodafone, will be installing fibre optic cables at Gooseholme Bridge, in Kendal, during the week beginning 21 March.

While the contractor will not have to close any roads during this work, some parking bays will be suspended for short periods of time as well as some no waiting areas, at the following locations on:

  • St George’s Walk
  • Castle Crescent
  • Little Aynam
  • Ann Street

Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Highways, said:

“It’s great news that the work can move forward.  We apologise, in advance, for any disruptions this will cause, as some of the parking bays will be suspended for short periods, starting week commencing 21 March, for a maximum of five days.”

“My sincere thanks go out to the local people of Kendal for their patience and continued support.

In December 2015, Storm Desmond damaged the Gooseholme footbridge in Kendal. Cumbria County Council is constructing a replacement footbridge for £2 million, in partnership with the Environment Agency, South Lakeland District Council, and Sustrans
