£1k Festive Boost Thanks to Ecclesiastical

Written by on 20/12/2020

Bay Trust Radio has won a £1,000 festive financial boost thanks to nominations from the public.

The station, which provides a local radio service to North Lancashire and South Cumbria, is one of 120 winning charities to receive an early Christmas gift of a £1,000 donation as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.

The funding will allow the charity to continue providing the best possible service during these uncertain times, being available to patients and staff inside local hospitals as well as the wider community online.

Members of the public were invited to nominate a charity to win a share of £120,000 and Bay Trust Radio was amongst the winners which were drawn at random.

John Williamson, Station Manager, said: “It was a huge surprise to discover that our charity had been drawn as a winner of £1,000 and all the team would like to thank everyone who nominated us. It will make a huge difference after a very challenging year. We have continued to broadcast from home throughout the pandemic and even set up new initiatives including setting up and providing tablets to wards to help keep patients in hospital connected with loved ones at home.”

Mark Hews, group chief executive at Ecclesiastical, said: “As a commercial company with a charitable purpose, giving back is at the heart of our business. We would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a good cause as part of our annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign. We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
