Forecast: Clear skies will lead to a bitterly cold start with a widespread hard frost, then a cold sunny morning. Clouding over towards midday with a couple of hours of snow (rain below 300-400m) spreading south in the afternoon. Dry again by early evening with some clear spells developing.
View: A bitterly cold day in the wind. Expect lying snow above 350-400m with drifts in sheltered locations on southerly aspects at higher altitudes. Strong glare likely in the morning off lying snow on higher ground. Note temperatures in sheltered valleys likely to be considerably colder than in table early morning, locally minus 6 Celsius.
Cloud Free Hill Top: 90% in the morning, 30% in the afternoon
Visibility: Excellent in the morning. Deteriorating to poor in the afternoon as cloud lowers to around 400m, then dispersing in the evening. Visibility falling to a few km in rain or sleet at low levels for a time.

Forecast: Cold and dry with high cloud increasing in the early hours, thickening through the morning with a few light snow flurries around midday. Extensive hill fog and outbreaks of rain from around mid-afternoon, snow briefly on the tops, these conditions persisting into the evening overnight with strengthening winds.
Wind: North becoming West or Southwest 5-10 mph. Increasing 15-20 gusting 30 mph in the evening.
Cloud Free Hill Top: 90% in the morning. Falling to nil in the afternoon.
Visibility: Excellent in the morning. Becoming poor in the afternoon with cloud soon lowering to 600m, then 300-400m in the evening.
Freezing Point: 300-400m rising to 600m by midday then above the summits by late afternoon.
