Man arrested as part of murder investigation into car crash

Written by on 12/10/2017

Police have made an arrest after a murder investigation was launched into the death of a woman involved in a car crash.

A 40-year-old man was held in the Maguiresbridge area of Northern Ireland on Wednesday evening in relation to the incident on Saturday night.

Natasha Carruthers, who was in her 20s, was killed in the collision between Lisnaskea and Derrylin in County Fermanagh at the weekend.

Another woman and a man, also in their 20s, were seriously injured.

Investigators from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Branch soon announced they had launched a murder inquiry.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: "I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the Newbridge Road, Derrylin, between 11pm and 12am on the night of Saturday 7 October and who may have witnessed any vehicle or vehicles travelling at speed to contact us."

Ms Carruthers was travelling in a blue Vauxhall Corsa with the registration number TLZ 8330.

The police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area – especially if they have dashcam footage of the road on the night of the crash.
