WWE cancels Manchester event after arena bombing

Written by on 30/05/2017

WWE has cancelled a tour event at the Manchester Arena next month following Monday’s terror attack.

Twenty-two people were killed when a suicide bomber set off a device at an Ariana Grande concert.

WWE had been due to stage an event as part of the NXT Live Tour at the arena on 6 June but it has now been called off.

"Out of respect for all those affected by the Manchester tragedy, WWE is cancelling the NXT event on Tuesday, June 6 at the Manchester Arena," WWE said in a statement.

"Our Superstars will be in Manchester on June 6 visiting with those affected by the tragedy and WWE is making a donation to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

"We look forward to returning to the Manchester Arena on Monday, November 6 for Raw and Tuesday, November 7 for SmackDown Live."

Fans are being offered a full refund or they can exchange their ticket for the event the next night in Leeds.

WWE executive vice-president Paul Levesque, known to fans as Triple H, has led the WWE’s tributes to those affected by the attack, saying: "We stand united and unyielding alongside you."
