Outraged residents fear for the safety of schoolchildren after a planning application to build an estate of homes on a former playing field was given the nod by planners.
An application by Russell Armer Ltd to build 34 homes off Biggins Riad, Kirkby Lonsdale, was approved by South Lakeland District Council subject to agreement by the Government Office for the North West.
The application also includes alterations to surrounding walls and footpaths, and residents, and staff from the surrounding schools, are worried about the safety of pupils walking to, and from, school.
Residents have concerns for the suitability of Biggins Road but Cumbria County Council’s Highways department had felt that was suitable for the additional traffic associated with the estate.
