Written by on 17/10/2017

Explore the Lake District whatever the weather as Brockhole-on-Windermere’s brand new indoor caving experience, Brave the Cave, opens this weekend.

Brockhole, the Lake District National Park visitor centre, welcomes 300,000 visitors each year, and is now home to a brand new indoor attraction that invites explorers to dive into the darkness of the caving tunnels.

Launching on Saturday 21 October, Brave the Cave will be open for adventure every weekend and during school holidays, and is suitable for adults and children over five.

Braving the darkness isn’t the only challenge; cavers will also be tasked to retrieve a number of hidden items within their 45 minute adventure. Only those who successfully Brave the Cave will receive a victory badge!

Sam Mason, General Manager of Brockhole said: “This is an exciting new attraction for Brockhole and we’re looking forward to opening the Cave to the public this weekend. We know from our other attractions that children, and their parents, love an adventure so we can’t wait to see the reactions of our visitors when they Brave the Cave!”

Set upon the shores of Windermere and surrounded by stunning gardens, visitors can enjoy a whole host of activities during their trip to Brockhole including boat and bike hire, pony rides and Treetop Trek.

Sam Mason added: “Brave the Cave has been designed to recreate a real life caving experience with helmets and head torches being given out to cavers before their challenge begins. People visit the Lake District for an adventure and this attraction is a brilliant indoor experience for visitors.”

For your under-five’s who aren’t yet old enough to Brave the Cave, Brockhole has also relocated and refurbished its pre-school play area. Keep your little ones entertained with activity tables, play floors, a comfy reading area and soft play with the backdrop of beautiful wall designs by Felltarn Friends.
