Man arrested following fatal house fire in Kendal

Cumbria Constabulary were called to an address in Stramongate in Kendal in the early hours of this morning (26 March 2017) following a house fire.
A 67-year-old woman who resides at the address suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary. However, she has subsequently died.
Officers have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with this incident. He is currently in police custody.
Cumbria Constabulary is working with colleagues at Cumbria Fire and Rescue as the investigation continues.
Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident at this time but would like to hear from anyone who has yet to come forward and who may have information which could assist their investigation. Anyone who can assist is urged to call 101 quoting incident number 33 of today (26 March 2017).
